(London, June 2011)

In April 2010, Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) England commissioned Bernie Graham and Caroline Hounsell to develop the Trauma Stress Reaction (TSR) course in response to the growing concern for the increasing number of people affected by post traumatic stress conditions. Ranging from deeply affected victims of abuse as children, to psychologically scarred servicemen and women returning from deployment in conflict zones, MHFA felt it was imperative to raise public awareness of the experiences and support needs of these often unrecognised members of our communities.
This training is intended for anyone who lives, works with, or has a developing interest in TSR or more specifically, Acute Stress Disorder or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The programme forms an integral part of Mental Health First Aid England's public health training portfolio and is designed for both non-specialist and informed audiences providing a thorough introduction to the subject area.
The primary learning objectives of the one day TSR Course are to:
- Increase participants' awareness and understanding of TSR
- Develop confidence in offering first aid support to those experiencing TSR
- Positively change participants' attitudes towards people experiencing TSR
Promotional Flyers for the TSR course be found here: A4 and here: A5
